Happiness Index

If happiness can be measured, let's call this unit of measurement "Happiness Index".

Assuming you donate a piece of bread to a starving begger, his happiness index, let say is 8 out of 10.

Now, assuming you give your rich friend a diamond ring, his happiness index is probably the same, 8 out of 10.

Are they both equally happy? Yes. The Happiness Index is the same, 80%.

But both mediums to happiness, the bread and diamond ring, are measured differently in monetary terms.

Everyone of us have our own lives to lead. We definitely have our own mediums to happiness at different points of time and place.

What influence our happiness index then? Our past experiences. Then comes how we view life and future expectations. With these, an "Auto" happiness index will arise. That is where most people will stop at bad times. We indulge ourselves in the low or negative "Auto" happiness index. Our experience may not have trained or prepared us to switch the "Auto" to "Manual". "Manual" Happiness Index can be cultivated. It only takes minimal effort to kick off the chain of events. A change of mind is all that is needed. It is not impossible. It is as easy as a snap. A change of mind is the easiest thing to do in life.

Yes. A change of mind is the easiest thing to do. Effortlessly.

Those who with low self esteem have so huge egos that it is impossible to avoid confrontation. Their hearts are so filled with angers that their will spark off with a slight nudge. What a complicated life it must have been. Pity.

I wonder....

How does a fish in a tank feel? Swimming in circle all day and night. Swim, eat, drink and sleep. How boring!

How does a bird in a cage feel? Flipping its wings all day and night. Looking for the slightest chance to fly out. Flip, eat, drink, sleep and make some noise. How dreadful!

How does a hen in a coop feel? Cooing all day and night. Coo, eat, drink and lay eggs. Sometimes nights are also like days. How awful!

Why do turtles live so long? What for?

A simple thank you will ungateful SOTB!!!

You know ah...some people ah...think that other should do something for them. They show no littlest sign of appreciation. Yesterday, I held the door for a teenage boy, he just took a glance at me and turned away. "A simple thank you will do." These words choked in my throat. If he was not taught manners in school or at home, I am not going to hint to him that these words are one of the essence of success. What has happened to a little bit of courtesy? Once, I called a teenage girl who had left her drinking bottle on a table. She just rushed back and took it. Yup! Not deaf but dumb. A stranger beside me said, "How come she didn't say thank you?" We just shook our heads.

That brings out the question of whose fault it is. I say it's the parents.

Major flaw revealed in Internet Explorer; users urged to switch

I have abandoned IE long time ago.

The major press outlets are abuzz this morning with news of a major new security flaw that affects all versions of Internet Explorer from IE5 to the latest beta of IE8. The attack has serious and far-reaching ramifications -- and they're not just theoretical attacks. In fact, the flaw is already in wide use as a tool to steal online game passwords, with some 10,000 websites infected with the code needed to take advantage of the hole in IE.

Virtually all security experts (as well as myself) are counseling users to switch to any other web browser -- none of the others are affected, including Firefox, Chrome, and Opera -- at least for the time being, though Microsoft has stubbornly said it "cannot recommend people switch due to this one flaw." Microsoft adds that it is working on a fix but has offered no ETA on when that might happen. Meanwhile it offers some suggestions for a temporary patch, including setting your Internet security zone settings to "high" and offering some complicated workarounds. (Some reports state, however, that the fixes do not actually work.)

Expedient patching or switching are essential. Security pros fear that the attack will soon spread beyond the theft of gaming passwords and into more criminal arenas, as the malicious code can be placed on any website and can be adapted to steal any password stored or entered using the browser. It's now down to the issue of time: Will Microsoft repair the problem and distribute a patch quickly enough to head off the tsunami of fraud that's about to hit or will it come too late to do any good?

Meanwhile, I'll reiterate my recommendation: Switch from Internet Explorer as soon as you can. You can always switch back once the threat is eliminated. (To clarify: You don't need to uninstall IE, just don't use it for the time being.)

Freedom of speech or after speech???

Many times we see these words, "freedom of speech". Many fight for it. I have just come to realize that there is NO such thing as freedom of speech. We will always have freedom of speech unless someone shut our months and ties our hands when we want to say something. It is the fear of no freedom AFTER the speech that deters us from speaking up. So, next time, we should not be fighting for freedom of speech but freedom after speech.

Landslide vs don't pressure the government

Yesterday, a massive landslide killed 5 people, injured 14, destroyed 14 houses, trapped 2000 residents in KL. The area is not for any Tom, Dick or Harry but those with certain amount of wealth and status. The local newspaper carried the news with pictures of crying victims and their relatives. Of course, the politicians also came out with concern looks. One headline caught my eyes. Beneath our PM's statement, "Stop all hillside projects", there is a small print, "Don't pressure government on building permits for hillside development", quoted by our dear Deputy PM aka PM in waiting. Hmm...Who can pressure the government to issue permit if they know certain areas are dangerous for housing development? If they don't know, then the relevant dept had not done their job to ensure our safety before issuing the permit for hillside housing. How to pressure? What else? Money lah! So, don't blame the rakyat for wanting nice views or the developer wanting profits. No permit, no house. No house, no death. Period.

Warning! Parents Be Nice!

A lot of parents often forget that their children are at the mercy of the teachers in the classroom. We, parents and teachers, are all human beings with good days and bad ones. Don't let the teachers feel bad about you, parents. You may think that the world is under your feet in your own egoistic little heads and you are better than the poor underpaid & lowly educated teachers. In actual fact, there are still some good professional and caring teachers out there and some lunatics too. That ratio is probably the same as those of parents though.

When your children come home with no physical bruises, you may felt satisfied like a winner in your fight with their teacher this morning or yesterday. You may think that you are right after all. Just bear in mind, verbal insults may often be as damaging as physical ones. Like you parents, not many people including teachers can take insults constructively. In your absence, a lot of things can happen. You have to be very tactful and humble when you talk to the teachers. You have nothing to lose except you ego but you have everything to gain. Everyone of us wants to be respected but we should give some respect to others as well. A little kindness goes a long way.

A wise person acts wisely in every situation, even if it may require him to swallow his words and retreat.

Yoga banned for Malaysian Muslim

Sometimes I just don't understand. Why Malaysian Muslims often need to be told what to do and what not to? Can't they think for themselves? Is there any statistic or clear evidence showing that with these rules imposed by the so called knowledgeable person, Muslims are better off compared to other race?

Yesterday, the local newspaper carried the headline, "Yoga banned". The Fatwa Council aka The top knowledgeable one deems this ancient form from India "prohibited". Its chairman said yoga have been practised by the Hindu community for thousands of years and incorporated physical movements, religious elements together with chants and worshipping, with the aim of "being one with God". I guess they cannot tolerate with the fact that God is associated with Hindu. To Muslim, there is only one God i.e. Allah and Allah belongs only to Muslim. They fear that Muslims will deviate from the teachings of Islam. Then, show us many have been deviated. Then, you will shut everyone's mouth.

At one point, there is a suggestion that Muslim women should not wear high heels and lipstick as it will draw bad things to happen to them. Earlier, there is also a suggestion by a youth party that there should be separate queue up lines for Muslim men and women in public places. Of course, these were criticized by many. These rules have not been endorsed yet. Not yet.

I wonder if many will take up qi gong, pilate, tai chi, karate or kung fu instead.

Well...some people just have too much free time and too narrow thinkings. Religion is a believe and no believe can be forced upon. Any forced religion is an insult to the religion itself for not being able to uphold its noble purposes.

Oh yea, let's concentrate on more important issues like financial crisis, unemployment, corruption, global warming, premarital sex, abortion..... you know.....things that really matters......things that can are life threatening......Hello......

Crazy people at Crazy hour

Here I am, at 4 in the morning, in the internet cafe which I frequented only during the day when my streamyx is down. I have never known until now...well...probably heard of it but not seen it with my own eyes that there can be so many people at this hour. I have expected a few owls but not a 95% occupancy rate in a 100 pc room. All youngsters playing games. Tomorrow is Friday. A working or schooling day. Mm...guess they are another category of youngsters. They in turn must be wondering what this old lady is doing here right now. The only pages that she is looking at are full or words. Crazy. Oh ya, you too. Crazy.

High Stake Child's Play

Nowadays you don't have to swtich on the TV to watch the Cantonese drama. You can see or hear it on the streets. Our politicians are playing it quite well. Murder, sex, accusations, allegations and conspirations are in for the nation. Maybe these were played silently in the past but for the past 6 months, the dramas are getting more and more spicy. One day, a polition claimed that another politician did someting. The next day, the other one denied and then said that he did even worst things. Then, a third person said that he can vouched to the allegations. Then in less than 24 hours, the third person retracted his statement and after that went in hiding. Then a 23 year-old aid said that he was sodomized by the politicians. Everyone claims conspiracy. Everyone claims innocent. Not me. He did it. No, not me. He did it. I didn't do it because he did it to me 1st. I did it because he actually did it. I good, he devil. Well...of course these are childish words. The politicians used better English or Bahasa.

Recently, a few commentars have started to say that a lot of people are getting fed up with the stories. Are we? Anyway, we are definitely ignoring the more fundamental issues. Poverty within the community is not highlighted. Developments in the story lines are bold printed in the front page with bigger fonts while developments for the nations have to be squeezed somewhere in between. The advantage of political stability for investment has been shakened by these plays.

But then again, we are still glued to the least I still am.
1) Can a 23 year-old man be sodomized by forced by a 60+ man with a neck problem?
2) How can a proclaimed shivering and frightenening lamb be shouting harsh remarks in his girl frined's blog to his sodomizer? Not afraid anymore?
3) Why isn't the famous blogger caught and thrown to the dungeon with his false statutory declaration while he was caught and charged earlier for writing a not-so-law-binding articles in his blog?
4) How can "the law & order" claimed that only 3 people were involved in a questionable murder case even before the trial has started?
5) So, who ordered and took out C4? Tell me, tell me.
6) Why do I have to pay for higher oil price when I produce the oil? I love this story. Ahmad catches fish from the sea. He sells it to me for $10 each. Then someone in the nearby village sells the same fish for $12. So, Ahmad decides to sell $12 too. He said if he sells it to me at $10, he will lose $2. He cannot afford to subsidize me $2 or else he will go bankrupt. So, the question is if Ahmad sells the fish at $10, does he earn $10 or lose $2?
7) When is another oil price hike? Don't tell me not in the future. How much higher?

Fashion is to be carried with grace and posture

There you were, walking alone to your work place and of course minding your own business. Then, suddenly, you saw this beautiful white blouse with a nice brown folded skirt walking towards you. You wondered if those would look nice on you. You wondered where she had gotten those. Then, suddenly, the whole feeling changed as your eyes moved to those legs. You started to think that if not carried with grace and posture, fashion is just like an unpleasant piece of extras. She was walking with an invisible ball between her legs! Some were bornt with bended legs so there is nothing they could do except to cover it with a kind heart. But there are some who don't realize that their adapted walking style is unbearable or rather uninviting.

I know one person whom has changed practically her whole wardrobe to match her career. Unfortunately, there is just things lacking that seriuosly jeorpadize her whole appearance. The clothes look very nice piece by piece. She has learnt great taste. Too bad, she doesn't carry it. Hunched back, bad posture and tired face gave her away.

So, carry fashion with grace and posture. Maybe I should say, grace and posture create fashion.

Grace and good posture create beauty....regardless of what one wears.......or not wear.
